Learning.

Connecting.

Empowering.

Empowering Neurodivergent Children to be seen, thrive and belong.

Found Tribe began because I have seen the value of a space for neurodivergent children and young people where they feel seen, heard, understood and have a voice.

I have seen the effects of these people being told that they are ‘too much’, ‘not trying hard enough’ or ‘to just do’ whatever neurotypical behaviour was being asked. I have heard these words and more, feeling wrong and like a broken human.

When I realised that I had ADHD a few years ago and (of course) hyper focused on what that meant, I understood that I wan’t broken.

Through Equine Facilitated Learning, Found Tribe exists to help neurodivergent children and young people learn about themselves, make connections and gain a sense of empowerment to take outside of sessions into the world. To realise that there is a place that they belong, exactly as they are - that they have found their Tribe.

Some questions you might have…

  • EFL is humans and horses working towards the goals that you have decided on. Horses are present, right here and now, and respond to how you show up, right here and now.

The human facilitator supports you in exploring things like self awareness, social skills and interactions and boundaries and space. It is based in relationships and, as such, the horses are a partner in the work they choose to take part in. The facilitator draws on their training, knowledge and experience to support you in your goals and to help keep horses and humans safe.

  • No. EFL with Found Tribe is about learning about ourselves, making connections and becoming empowered from what we learn in a session. Horses, nature and safety in the environment and relationships are therapeutic but we, as facilitators, are not therapists.

  • We understand the different challenges that can come from being neurodivergent in a world set up for neurotypical people. It can feel stressful, frustrating, confusing and like you're doing something wrong. Found Tribe is not that.

EFL with Found Tribe is being curious, exploring and being free to be the real you, when you feel safe enough to show us. You have your own goals that we support you in working towards, with no pressure, no timeline and no judgement. We want to help you be the version of you that you want to be and develop the skills and understanding that make sense to you and will be helpful to you.

  • Sessions can vary depending on the person and their goals. While activities can be helpful, it's not the most important thing in the session. Watching the horses, sharing space and having interactions without a goal can be incredibly insightful and valuable.

In the same way that we will not make you do anything or ask you to be someone else, we don't make the horses do anything or ask them to be anything other than their horse selves! Everything we do with the horses is ground based, so no riding, and with respect for everyone involved.

If there is anything in particular that we need to be aware of, such as particular sensory sensitivities, please let us know so that we can support you in the sessions.

  • Fill in the contact form and we will email you to arrange a call to find out a bit more about each other. We'll see if EFL is the right support for you and we all feel that we're a good fit in working together.

Please ask questions - there are no daft ones! If it's a yes to all, we'll arrange sessions!
